'The Threat'

Fred Oldfield is known as one of the granddaddies of Western Art. He has spent his entire adult life doing what he loves the most - painting! His youth was filled with the cowboy life - covered wagons, horses, farming, and trail rides. Fred was born in 1918, in Alfalfa, WA, on the Yakama Indian Reservation near Toppenish where he has been actively involved in painting murals throughout the town.

His love and devotion to family and friends - his unselfish help to young aspiring artists - his numerous awards - his work with the Toppenish Mural Society - and always his humility, warmth and humor, Fred believes he's been blessed to spend his life making a living at something he loves!"
